AIM of the Workshop

to provide surgeons the information and skills needed for successful handling of
nontraumatic visceral and GI emergencies from arrival in the emergency room
through transfer for definitive treatment to the operating room, intensive care unit or
ward, with detailed attention to the decision-making process as well as to relevant

surgical skills and techniques.

Structure

Theoretical sessions – state of the art information on the diagnosis and management
of non-trauma GI & visceral emergencies. The symposium provides an ideal mix of
the traditional standard of care principles with cutting edge, forward-moving
practices.

Hands-on sessions during the entire second day focused on laparoscopic approach.
Develop skills to suture perforated ulcer, bowel resections, splenectomy, manage
complicated situations, laparoscopic hemostasis technics, working with ICG and 3D
as well as to try and compare on the spot different high-end laparoscopic devices

The following goals will be pursued:
1. Confront surgeons with different controversial scenarios
2. Provide concrete answers from latest literature for questions emerging from these
situations
3. Develop skills to manage complicated issues, laparoscopic hemostasis technics
4. Working with ICG and laparoscopic different approaches and techniques
5. try and compare on the spot different high-end laparoscopic devices from All of

Centre for Teaching & Research in Disaster Medicine and Traumatology
